You're at Lotte World—But Which One Is the Amusement Park?

When you arrive at Jamsil Station looking for Lotte World, the names get confusing surprisingly fast.

Just when you think you've found it, another similar name comes into view: Lotte World Mall, Lotte World Tower, Lotte World Aquarium, and Seoul Sky, all clustered around the same area. Then, when you look for the amusement park itself, you see another name: Lotte World Adventure.

They are all close together on the map, but once you are actually trying to enter, the question changes. Which one is actually the amusement park, and what should you know once you get inside?

If it's your first time at Lotte World, it's much easier to get your bearings before thinking about which rides to try.

First, Make Sure You're Looking for Lotte World Adventure

In Jamsil, Lotte World does not refer to just one place.

Lotte World Mall is the shopping mall. Lotte World Aquarium is a separate aquarium, and Seoul Sky is the observatory at Lotte World Tower. If you're here for the rides, the name to look for is Lotte World Adventure.

At first, the names may not seem very different. But once you start looking for an entrance, it matters which place you're actually heading to.

So when you check the signs, don't stop at Lotte World. Look for Adventure too.

If you're looking for the aquarium, see the Lotte World Aquarium guide. For the observatory, see the Seoul Sky guide. If you're looking for the amusement park, set the other names aside for now and follow Lotte World Adventure.

Once you know which name to follow, the next question is simpler: how do you get to the Adventure entrance?

At Jamsil Station, Follow the Adventure Signs Rather Than an Exit Number

Jamsil Station and the Lotte World complex are connected underground, so you do not need to go up to street level and look for the Lotte World building again. You can stay underground and follow the passage toward the park.

You will often see directions toward Exit 4, but do not rely on the exit number alone.

Underground passages also lead toward Lotte World Mall and other nearby facilities, so the signs can split in different directions even after you have been walking the same way. There is a moment when you cannot quite tell whether you are still heading to the amusement park or into the mall.

So as you walk, keep looking for the words "LOTTE WORLD ADVENTURE." Follow that name rather than the exit number alone.

The fact that there are several entrances can wait. For now, just follow the Adventure signs.

If you bought your ticket online, there is one thing to check before you reach the gate: whether your ticket lets you enter directly or whether you need to exchange it first. This can vary by seller and ticket type, and finding out only after you reach the entrance can mean walking back to another counter.

Once you're inside, two more names start to matter: Adventure and Magic Island.

Adventure and Magic Island Are Two Parts of the Same Park

When you first look up Lotte World, Adventure and Magic Island may appear as separate areas on the map. That can make it seem as if you need to choose one or the other.

Adventure is indoors. Magic Island is outdoors.

Adventure opens into a large indoor space filled with rides. Magic Island is the outdoor section beyond it, toward Seokchon Lake. You can spend time inside and then head out to Magic Island, or return to Adventure after being outside.

The difference becomes more important when the weather is bad. Since Magic Island is outside, its rides can be affected by rain, wind, or cold.

That does not mean the entire park is affected in the same way just because it is raining. The better question is not, "Can I still go to Lotte World today?" but, "Is the outdoor ride I want actually running today?" Once you know that, you can decide whether to head outside after spending time indoors or stay inside a little longer.

Once you know Magic Island is outside, the next question is simple: how do you get there from inside Adventure?

Magic Island Is Not an Exit From the Park. It Connects to Adventure Inside the Park

Once you are inside Adventure, it can feel as if you need to find the park exit before you can get outside. The indoor area is large and spread across several floors.

But going to Magic Island does not mean leaving the amusement park completely and entering a different park. From inside Adventure, follow the connected passageways until they lead outside to Magic Island.

The first part of the route can vary depending on which entrance you used. So there is no reason to memorize exactly which floor or which staircase to take. Once you are inside, just keep checking the signs for Magic Island.

As you move through the indoor area, the route eventually leads outside. At some point, the indoor ceiling gives way to open sky, and Seokchon Lake comes into view.

Before you head out, check the outdoor rides while you are still inside. Otherwise, you can walk all the way to Magic Island only to find that the ride you wanted is not running and have to head back inside.

Check What Is Happening That Day Instead of Memorizing a Perfect Strategy

When you search for Lotte World, you will quickly find the same kinds of advice: where to go first when the park opens, whether to start with Magic Island, or what time the lines supposedly get shorter.

But an actual day at the park is not that predictable. The weather changes, some rides may not be operating, and even from one weekday to another, crowd levels and wait times can be very different.

So for a first visit, what matters more than memorizing a fixed ride plan is knowing what to check that day.

You have already checked how your ticket works before entering. Once you are inside, the next thing to look at is the day's operating status. The Lotte World app shows which rides are operating and their wait times. You can use that information as you go instead of trying to map out all your rides from home based on wait times.

Systems designed to reduce waiting can also change over time, so check the official information for your visit date rather than relying on an old strategy guide.

Then the question changes from "Which ride do I absolutely have to do first?" to something more practical. You might head to a ride with a shorter wait, go out to Magic Island if the weather is good, or stay inside Adventure and choose your next ride if outdoor conditions are poor.
