Incheon Airport Limousine Bus: Can You Tap T-money, or Do You Need a Ticket?

You leave the arrivals hall at Incheon Airport and head toward the bus stops with your suitcase.

You have already found the airport limousine bus number that goes to your destination in Seoul.

Now it feels like all that's left is to get on the bus.

But can you just tap your T-money card like you would on a Seoul city bus? Or do you need to buy a ticket first?

At Incheon Airport, You Usually Buy a Ticket First

For airport limousine buses from Incheon Airport to Seoul, you generally buy a ticket at the airport before boarding.

Even if you already have a T-money card, don't head straight to the bus stop as you would for a Seoul city bus. First check whether your bus requires a ticket.

There are exceptions, though. Some routes from Terminal 1 allow passengers to board with a transit card or cash.

That is why you may see one traveler online say they used T-money, while another says they bought a ticket first.

Have your bus number and terminal ready, then ask at a bus ticket counter at the airport whether you need a ticket, or check the bus operator's current official guidance. If you need a ticket, buy one at the counter or a ticket machine.

Where to Buy Your Ticket at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2

At Terminal 1, you can buy a bus ticket and get bus information at the counters on the arrivals level, next to Exits 4 and 9.

So you don't need to head outside and start looking for the bus stops as soon as you leave the arrivals hall. First, find a ticket counter or ticket machine on the arrivals level.

At Terminal 2, you can get bus information and buy your ticket at the bus terminal on B1 of the Transportation Center.

You can also use a foreign-issued credit card when buying a ticket at the counters or ticket machines.

Once you have your ticket, check your ticket or the bus information at the airport for your departure time and stop before heading outside.

Just because a bus is going to Seoul doesn't mean you can wait at any bus stop. Head to the correct stop with your suitcase and make sure you're there in time for your bus.

When the Bus Arrives, Check Where to Put Your Suitcase

When the bus pulls in, first make sure the bus number matches the one you are waiting for.

If you have a large suitcase, don't carry it straight onto the bus as soon as it arrives.

Large suitcases are placed in the luggage compartment underneath the bus.

If a staff member or the driver shows you where to put your luggage, follow their instructions. Once your suitcase is stored, board the bus.
